Does Rehab Really Work?

NOBODY WILL EVER BE DELIVERED FROM WHATEVER THEY ARE IN BONDAGE TO UNTIL THEY WANT TO BE DELIVERED!

Like never before, REHAB is in the news. Rehab is a critical and serious place for many to find hope and help and freedom from    the bondages people become enslaved to during this life.

Lately, though, it's been turned into a joke by Hollywood stars who use rehab as a place to hide when their addictions and poor choices catch up to them and are exposed to the world.  After a few weeks, they emerge claiming they're "cured" ... when nothing has really changed. So this raises a vital question, "Does going to rehab really cure people of their addictions,? Does rehab really work?"

It is important to understand that there is no magical place to go to be delivered from an addiction. That place doesn't exist! Please listen, nobody will ever be delivered from whatever they are in bondage to until they want to be delivered. I'll say it again since this goes to the heart of the REHAB from any bondage today (e.g. drugs, alchohol, sexual perversion, food).

NO PERSON WILL EVER BE DELIVERED FROM WHATEVER THEY ARE IN BONDAGE TO UNTIL THEY WANT TO BE DELIVERED!

Here's another very important truth -- even GOD won't deliver you unless you want to be set free!  Why?  Free will. GOD gave you this free will to make your own choices. You are the one who chooses to take drugs, drink, smoke, overeat, engage in sinful sexual activities, shop for things you don't need, gamble, and do anything you've become enslaved to.

When YOU are ready to stop and be set free, GOD will be there to strengthen you. HE will then help you find the deliverance you seek. But YOU must first make the choice to stop and seek the LORD's help. Until you come to that place, NOTHING will change!

But don't underestimate the "GOD factor" in being set free from your addictions.  IT IS THE KEY ... once a person decides to seek freedom from their bondage. That is why CHRIST-centered rehab programs like "Teen Challenge" have a dramatically lower recidivism rate than secular rehab programs.

Once you take YOUR stand and YOU are determined to be free from your addiction, you DEFINITELY need the greater power of GOD!  You -- ALONE -- will not be able to walk in victory day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year without GOD's grace through JESUS CHRIST (Epesians 2:8-10).

It's interesting, the "one-day-at-a-time" concept is real (Luke 9:23; 11:13; Acts 17:11; 1 Corinthians 15:21; Hebrews 3:13). For the person who's fought and won the battle over their addiction, they're acutely aware that spiritual battles never stop. The reason people relapse or "fall off the wagon" is because they quit doing the Bible-based things they need to do on a daily basis.

Mark 14:38, "Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak."

For someone, anyone really, who's been delivered from any addiction, they MUST do the Bible-based things they need to on a daily basis, in order to live in the victory of GOD's amazing daily grace. Here's the addicts prayer, "FATHER, give me this day my daily grace. Otherwise, in their neglect they'll wake up one morning back in the jaws of their sinful addiction.

The good thing that all rehab programs do is to help educate a person about their addiction. They often help people to understand the various factors involved and give a people some practical tools to live clean. The greatest of those tools isaccountability!

None of us can walk through this journey of life alone. We all need others in our life to guide us, strengthen us, and encourage us along the way.  That's especially true for someone who's battling to live in freedom from any addiction. Having someone godly in your life to hold you accountable -- someone who's fought the battle and is living in victory over their addiction -- this is critical to help one live in that same victory.

Here's the reality, no place or program will ever work until you're ready to live in freedom from your bondage. The same freedom and power of choice you use to drink, do drugs, gamble, smoke, overeat, shop for things you don't need, engage in sinful sexual activities, or whatever your bondage -- this is the same free will and choice you'll have to exercise to live in freedom from that ALL bondage.

When, in humility, before GOD and others, you truly make the choices to be free, any rehab and programs like AA can help in educating and giving you some basic tools for living. However, at that point in finding your life again, the absolutely critical elment becomes a personal relationship with GOD -- JESUS CHRIST -- Emmanuel or "GOD with us" (Matthew 1:23).

Without JESUS, you may be delivered from some bondage and live in freedom somewhat? But, like ALL who live without JESUS, you will never know true and eternal forgiveness and cleansing from sin comeing from GOD alone -- true joy and peace -- the abundance of HIS life today and forever (Acts 4:12; John 14:6; 10:10).

When your brief journey on earth is over, will you be forever separated from GOD, your Creator, in hell without CHRIST's salvation (John 3:16, 36). There is no REHAB or programs to escape from hell! Once you die, you will be there forever!

Hebrews 9:27-28, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So CHRIST was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation."

By surrendering your life to JESUS by faith (Ephesians 2:8-10), you will not only find freedom from your addiction, but YOU will find the strength to live a victorious life every day. This life is not JUST about living here until we die!  We are called by GOD to live in victory and to make our lives count in Divine destiny every day!

Without HIM, that is impossible, but with JESUS ... ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!

If you're currently battling with an addiction, I pray that you will open your heart today!  Hear GOD's voice speaking to you through these word's. HE is telling you that you don't have to be a slave to your addiction any longer. You can be free. Freedom from your addiction is only a sincere prayer away!

The reality may be that your life is a mess right now, that you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. JESUS CHRIST is  "GOD with you" -- HE will help you. However, YOU will have to be ready to live in freedom from your bondage (Matthew 1:23). Ask HIM to help you open your heart to HIS love and Truth.

My prayer, "I pray for all those in REHAB or some program today, trying to be free from whatever has enslaved them, that they will open their hearts to YOU, the One who created and loves them. The One who died and rose to set us ALL free from our addictions, that we may know true joy and peace -- the abundance of life through a personal relationship with YOU. Amen."

NO place or program will ever work until a person is truly ready to quit. NO victory will ever be complete and eternal without JESUS CHRIST!
